Spirit of Freedom's Gunkhole Adventure 2003

First Mate Duties

Now that Cliff is spending much more time sailing, his dog and cat are aboard as well...so on went the netting.

Rain!

In the middle of Cliff working on the gates, it started to rain. But he pressed on and got the job done!

Admiral DC

DC, who had never been aboard a boat in her 10 years moved aboard Spirit of Freedom and appointed herself Admiral of the Fleet. July 2003

The Admiral Surveys

DC surveys the job...she hasn't gone overboard, so it must be OK

Plastic Clothespins

Monica demonstrated the multiple and varied uses of clothespins...amazing what you will put up with when you are a newly wed! Cliff, Monica and Jeremy aboard Spirit. Jarrell's Cove June 2003

Hot September

100 degrees, dead calm, floating in the middle of Case Inlet. Reading in the shade...the the tide turned and so did the boat...and there went our shade! So Cliff hopped onto the swim platform and with a dinghy paddle, turned the boat back 'round so we had our shade!

Bottlenose Dolphin

Two Dolphin from down south decided to visit north during the summer of 2003. They hung around Case Inlet greeting and playing with boats. They spent a good 20 minutes with Spirit before looking for something else to do. September 2003

Broken nose

This dolphin had a broken upper bill that is plainly seen in this photo. It didn't seem to stop him from playing and jumping around. And he was nice and fat so he was obviously eating well.

Bye-bye Dolphins!

One last close by the bow blow and they left us.

September Sunset

Cutts Island, Carr Inlet. During the day this is a very noisy mooring ground as the local teenagers all descend on the little island with their skiboats and beer...but when the sun goes down, it becomes so peaceful.

Perfectly Balanced

Look closely at this photo...look at the flag and the mooring bouy. We were balanced between the wind and current, they were both at the same speed. IIllahee, September 2003

Dock Doc & Capt. Pamela

This photo was taken by Ellie...just before the Thanksgiving festivities started at Blake Island in 2003...a typical scene!
